Word frequency counters updated

We updated word frequency lists on EasyPronunciation.com. Frequency lists allow you to highlight word in different colors depending on their frequency rating.

Most of our frequency lists are based on subtitles. For European languages such lists are built from modified word forms.

Now if you learn English, French or Spanish, in addition to subtitle-based frequency lists, we also have these three frequency lists:

  1. Corpus of Contemporary American English - for English
  2. Grammalecte - for French
  3. Corpus del Español - for Spanish

For the above lists, you have two options:

  1. Frequency list based on dictionary forms of words. For English, for example, the words "answer", "answered", "answering" and "answers" will have the same frequency rating. Or for French, all 42 forms of the verb "répondre" will also have the same frequency rating.
  2. Frequency list based on modified forms of words. In this case, just as with subtitle-based frequency lists, different forms of the same word may have different frequency rating, depending on how often a particular word form is used.

We also expanded our line of word frequency counters. They allow you to get the detailed statistics of your text or subtitle file. The following languages are supported: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish.
