Recently I bought a book The Phonology of Standard Chinese by San Duanmu.
It may be too complicated for someone who just wants to improve his/her pronunciation in Chinese.
However for me it was a treasure. This book allowed me to improve the algorithm to convert Chinese text into IPA transcription. That also includes er-suffix.
I still continue to test it with texts from the book HSK standard course.
