Another type of transcription in English phonetic converter

We added another type of phonetic transcription in our English phonetic converter.

Up until now the only supported transcription was Internation Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).

Now for American English you can select “Scholastic dictionary style transcription”. You will not find it in professional dictionaries, however it is used sometimes by native speakers in US and Canada to write down the pronunciation of a word.

For example, the word “people” would be transcribed as “pEE-puhl”, “believe” as “buh-lEEv”.

Very soon we will add a cheat sheet that explains these phonetic symbols.

We will also release the version 2 of our REST API tool for converting English text to phonetic transcription.
