More settings in our online pronunciation trainer

We are excited to announce that we released several updates in our online pronunciation trainer.

  1. From now on, for the logged-in users the settings are saved in the database. That means the next time you want to practice your pronunciation, you will pick up from where you left off.
  2. Now you can practice the pronunciation of several sounds in one practice session. That’s especially useful for the similar sounds. For example, if English is your second language, and you have difficulty distinguishing the phonemes /i/ and /ɪ/, you can select both sounds. The pronunciation trainer will let you listen to random words containing these 2 sounds. The algorithm of the trainer will rotate the words containing the two sounds: /i/, /ɪ/, /i/, /ɪ/, etc.
  3. Speaking about random words. Now there is a new setting called “Pick random words” (turned on by default). It allows you to practice more words than before. In the previous version, the words were sorted by their frequency, thus quite often the number of words for some sounds was limited.
